Our mission is to give as many children who are struggling with learning differences, the opportunity to overcome and gain confidence in their school and family life. Boundless Expectations understands that many of these children are often misunderstood through their reading and writing deficits as not trying, or having difficult behaviors in school and beyond. Here at Boundless Expectations, we see through those struggles and provide each and every child evidence based assessments and one on one intensive therapeutic level tutoring that caters to their specific needs. Most students who we support are impacted by Dyslexia and/or Dysgraphia which affects them in every aspect of their life. Families come to us concerned that they are unable to get the direct support that their child needs from school and they aren’t sure what more to do. Our intensive program uses Sounds In Syllables, which is an evidence based literacy program that is widely used throughout our nation and is recognized by the International Dyslexia Association and supplied by the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center. Often, our students are extremely stressed, filled with anxiety and struggles with even the smallest request when they first attend our therapeutic tutoring sessions. These are the students that have been told over and over that they just need to study harder, focus more and stop being lazy. These students have grown accustomed to being told that they are not doing it right or that their struggle stems from a behavioral issue. That’s where we come in.

Through our one on one support, we are able to start exactly where the child needs us the most. Oftentimes, that is at the very beginning of reading. Many of our students come to us extremely stressed and overwhelmed with the simple requests asked. Before they even realize and with our intensive therapy, they are now reading words and able to write their thoughts down. The sheer joy and excitement that we witness in not only our student’s eyes, but also their parents makes it clear that Boundless Expectations must continue to help families here locally and throughout our region. Each student that comes to us represents not only their life, but their families as well. The impact that dyslexia has on the overall family not only shows by the stress from school assignments, but also within the family’s interaction within the community and their social well-being within their work environment. The work that we do at Boundless Expectations extends beyond each individual student and out to our community, schools and overall financial wellbeing for our families.

The impact that your donation will have on each student is more than what words could ever express. Just imagine a 10 year old boy who has struggled with reading and writing so much that he avoids hanging out with his friends. He first comes to us because his mom has tried everything else and nothing has worked. The mom is in tears during the assessment thinking that her son will always struggle. We start our intensive therapeutic tutoring and at first he is so overwhelmed that even the sound of the clock ticking stressed him out, and being asked to trace a letter made him angry and cry. Fast forward two years later, he gives his tutors written thank you notes and reads with more confidence and fluency than he has ever before. This student now has the most beautiful cursive penmanship and has learned how to break down words and can now read three syllable words without hesitating. The pressure that this student’s dyslexia and dysgraphia had on his family’s stress and happiness has now changed, and they smile when they are together and the student looks forward to coming to sessions. We have so many individual stories like this that show how your contribution has made it possible for Boundless Expectations to change the lives of the children in our community.
